visual identity guidelines
Visual identity guidelines are a written manual that explains how a brand should be used internally and externally.
Consistently presented brands are more likely to have excellent brand visibility than those with inconsistent brand presentation.
Mission
In 1992 I joined the University
of East Anglia (UEA) as their
head of design. I was employed to create a stronger, more consistent brand with a logo redesign and visual identity guidelines.

Mission
The original type design of the 'UEA' letters was retained in the new logo design. There was a historic connection between the original logo typeface and the renowned architect of the first UEA campus buildings, Denys Lansden.
The university had for the first time a set of supporting visual guidelines which led to a visual consistency throughout the campus in its signage, publications and media.

Mission
A set of visual guidelines were completed and included information on how to use the new logo, preferred colour palettes, stationery design, typing grids and signage.
